Less Stress At Breakfast Tips

Studies have shown that children who have a good breakfast before heading out to school generally performed better in the classroom.

Sometimes this can be a challenge, because if you have two adults and two children trying to get out the door first thing in the morning, it can be quite a stressful experience, especially if you only have one bathroom.

So how do you win with both situations?

Here are some less stress at breakfast tips.

1. Get everything ready the night before so it just has to be lifted. If possible set everything out in another room. (Remember any Games or PE bag required?) The same with the breakfast cereals - have the table set and everything covered with clingfilm before retiring to bed.

2. Have the next day’s clothes ready in one place the night before.

3. Everyone takes a full shower the night before, and only a quick refresher shower in the morning .

4. Get up 15 minutes earlier than normal. Most people get into a routine of just managing the minimum number of minutes possible before they have to leave the house, which results in everybody running round trying to get things done quickly and getting in each other’s way. A little extra leeway time wise eases everyone stress levels first thing in the morning, and the luxury of a little extra time at the breakfast table pays great dividends later during the day.

5. Have healthy small items of food readily available in the kitchen so they can be lifted if needed.

6. Consider using a small ‘to go’ food pack which your children can continue eating on the way the school.

These are really all just common sense measures which will make everyone’s morning a lot more pleasant.

Highly or Low Intensity Cardio Exercise, Which Is Best?

Filed under: Wellness — Mark @ 8:00 am

A good question and one which confuses many people as both types of exercise still help you burn body fat. But which is best?

During intensive exercise your body burns glycogen which is basically stored carbohydrates. Glycogen is normally stored in your muscles and in your liver. With low intensity exercise your body burns large amounts of fat. In fact scientists would claim that your body burns more fat during low intensity exercises such as walking or swimming.

So why is everyone advocating high intensity exercise?

Apparently high intensity exercise has some unique advantages. Initially during high-intensity exercise the body burns a lot of calories, mostly calories from glycogen and fewer from fat. However following high-intensity exercise your body will continue to burn calories for some hours afterwards, which will be nearly all fat.

But here’s the best bit. The next time you eat, some of the carbohydrates are used to replenish your energy store of glycogen and do not get converted into fat. You don’t get these continuing after results with low intensity exercise.

You can incorporate high-intensity exercise into your normal low intensity routines quite simply. For example you can alternate walking and jogging every five minutes, and then walk until you’ve regained your breath. Then sprint for a minute and walk again until you catch your breath. You can do this in a couple of times until you finish your exercise.

Advocates of high-intensity exercise say they feel they have more energy in general after recovery. So if you have never tried combining high and low intensity exercise maybe is something you should look into, but be careful if you’re just starting out, go slow and don’t over exert yourself.

    Perfect Eye Secrets - Eyebrows

Filed under: Wellness — Mark @ 8:00 am

Your eyebrows shape and colour can affect the expression and harmony of your features, and can play an important part in the perception of your personality and appearance. Your appearance plays an important part in your self esteem and confidence.

For perfect makeup your eyebrows should be corrected to harmonise with the shape of your face. Of course this can be done professionally, but if you wish to do this yourself here are some tips.

So just how do I get perfect eyebrows?

    * Both eyebrows should be matched and equal in the shape.

    * They should be smooth and match the colour of your hair. If you must have a different colour keep it simple, black if you are a brunette or light brown if you are a blonde.

    * Perfect eyebrows are comma shaped, and consist of three points, the base, the middle,
and the extremity. The base is situated at the top of the nose and the extremity should
line up with the base. The base should be approximately 8mm in thickness and the
extremity no more than 2-3mm, so if your eyebrows don’t look like this you have to
    correct them.

If you have a round face, your eyebrows don’t need to be rounded, but any correction has to be done as ascendant as possible. If you have a square face, then the eyebrows should be more horizontal.

With a triangular face your eyebrows should be oblique upwards and just separated a little from the nose. With a diamond shaped face the eyebrows should be corrected just a little and made as oblique as possible.

Care for your eyebrows by massaging them with a little face cream every night, and combing them. This will help you maintain shiny smooth eyebrows.
