Independent research today reveals that the UK’s most forgotten and neglected body part is the bottom! The majority of us spend between five and eight working hours abusing our bottoms by sitting on them all day (61%) and over half refuse to even look at their bottom in the mirror (54%). The research by Andrex® goes onto reveal that this abuse is deep-rooted with 63% of the population despising their bottoms and women being the worse culprits (73%). In light of this news, Andrex® is urging people to ‘Be Kind to Your Behind’!
Renowned psychologist Judi James, “The bottom is historically and naturally an ancient symbol for attraction. Humans are not supposed to spend all day sitting down, the more we hate our bottoms and ignore them, using them primarily as a cushion for hours of sitting, the more shapeless, flatter and unattractive they are likely to become meaning our prime signaller is being diminished.”
The Andrex® survey goes onto reveal that although the bottom has always been an attraction to the opposite sex, men aren’t helping women embrace it! Out of the 56% of women who have had their bottoms pinched on a night out, 61% hated it. With 63% of the nation hating their bottoms, 60% of women wish they could alter their bottoms in size with small and peachy being the most desired shape to women (49%).
Judi James continues, “We are the first generation to have a very poor relationship with our bottoms and it could have something to do with PC thinking. Women used to employ any tool possible to exaggerate and enhance their bottoms, from the days of the bustle right up to the clinging dresses worn by the likes of Marilyn Monroe. Flat shoes, masculine-cut clothes and the fact its non-PC for guys to ogle a woman’s bottom in the street means things like the sexy bum-wiggle has all but vanished as a flirt signal.”
As a result of this neglect, a nationwide appeal to ‘Be Kind to Your Behind’ has been launched by Andrex®.
