hoodia product

A Personal Product Test.

Well, I’ve decided to challenge myself to losing at least 2 stones in weight by the end August this year.

To do this I have decided initially to make a purchase of three months of the new wonder diet pill Hoodia derived from the Hoodia Gordonii cacti. I’ve chosen to use the Pure Hoodia product promoted on this blog by PureHoodia.

The container shown contains 90 tablets and you simply take one about 30 minutes before your normal breakfast, lunch and evening meal times.

I intend to keep up my vitamin intake using supplements, and take at least one helping of bran fortified cereal every day with a little semi- skimmed milk. Otherwise I intend to be eating little.

In the way of exercise, I don’t intend to be doing much for the month of May as I am sceptical if this product is all it says it is, and I intend to test it, by keeping my exercise levels the same, eating less, and just taking the product to see what progress I make in losing weight.

Currently with jeans, a T shirt, and trainers I weighed in today at 4pm at 17.5 stones. I’ll be using the same weighing machine for consistency and reporting here at the end of each week on my progress.

I hoping that this product will do exactly what it says, and make me not want to eat. Well we’ll see. Watch this space.

Thursday May 8th Update:

It’s now about 12 hours since I started the course of Pure Hoodia tablets. Interestingly I haven’t felt hungry, so that part of the claim sees to be working. I haven’t felt satisfied either from a food perspective. I still feel the desire to drink, or for a coffee, but there is no desire to add a scone, or a bit or shortbread, or a snack of any kind.

Basically the feeling is that you’ve had a meal several hours ago, and the feeling of fullness has passed and at the moment you don’t desire anything further. I’ve taken my second pill. Overall perhaps I feel slightly tired, certainly I feel lazier than normal, but I think if someone offered me a bun, my reaction would be ‘no’, because the thought of one would be that I wouldn’t enjoy it.

If you were doing any activity that required your reactions to be on top form, then perhaps it would be wise to decide to eat a small balanced food bar or similar before that activity to counteract the slight feeling of lethargy.

Saturday May 10th Update:

After a couple of days, I’m pleased to report that the feelings of hunger have not reappeared. I find as meal times come due and I take another pill, there is still no desire to want to eat. For breakfast I’ve been choosing to take a Slim Fast drink, and between 6pm and 8pm, I’ve either taken some cereal, or a small salad. Afterwards I’ve felt satisfied with that small amount. I’ve skipped lunch altogether. When I’ve chosen to eat, the enjoyment has still been there, but I’m definitely eating smaller amounts.

I’ve felt no temptation to snack on buns, chocolates, or anything else during the day, and even to a degree my desire for cups of coffee have diminished, instead preferring mildly flavoured or just plain tap water. No temptation for sweets either, though I can’t say I have been a big sweet fan anyway. Sleeping has been normal, and everything so far is progressing well. (Haven’t made any attempt to weigh myself yet).

Thursday 15 May 2008 Update (After 1 week)

Well it has been an interesting week, and I can say that the product has lived up to it’s claim. I haven’t felt hungry except for a twinge when I forgot to take a pill at a lunch time a few days ago. However that went away again quite quickly after taking it.

As meal times came round I was aware that I should be going to get something to eat. The habit was still there except I wasn’t in the mood to eat anything. I can’t say I’ve really had any side effects either. I’ve felt normal after the first few days and no longer felt lazy or lethargic. No stomach problems, and no constipation. (I’m presuming that is because I am still eating small amounts daily with a least one bowl of fibre cereal every two days).

Next of course is the question – “How has the first week gone, did you lose any weight?”

Yes, I’m please to say I’m down 1/2 stone to 17 st. I’m aware that any weight loss is supposed to be larger at the start of a diet than later, but I’m pleased as the initial progress.

Thursday 29 May 2008 Update

It’s now two weeks since my last update, and things haven’t progressed
as well as I had hoped. I’ve only managed to lose 2lbs over the two week
period!

I have been choosing to eat, but keeping to small portions of
mostly salad and healthy eating.

I have noticed this week a gradual desire to eat if I’m late by more
than 1 and half hours in taking my Hoodia pill. I guess that now
having eaten much less, my body is beginning to get hungry and
the pills are having to work harder to keep the hunger suppressed.

I’ve also decided to buy new scales just in case there is an inaccuracy
in the older set.

Tuesday 15 July 2008 Update

Well it’s been a while since I updated this post, and I suppose you have been wondering how I am getting along. I have noticed that now recently that if I do miss taking the pill around the meal time, I am tempted to slip back into old habits. Having said that I’ve held out reasonably well. I did get caught for two regular meals that were a little bigger volume wise than I would have liked… but I guess no one’s perfect ;-)

So how am I doing… I’m at 16st 10lbs. I still haven’t commenced any exercise, but overall feeling healthier than I was in May. Again not as good progress as I would have liked, considering I lost half a stone in the first week, but still heading in the right direction. Anyone who says it’s easy to lose weight is mistaken. However these Gordonii pills do help, but I wouldn’t expect dramatic weight loss with them over a short time… just a successful slow loss over a longer period. I’m still aiming at achieving the other stone before the end of August.

Monday 4th August 2008 Update

So how is it going? Well I’m stuck again at 16 st 10oz. That leaves 18lbs to lose before the end of August. In two days I’m off to Greece to participate in two weeks of the Mediterranean Diet, so I’m staying positive I’ll end up back on track. I’ll report back later in the month.

Tuesday 5 August 2008 Update

Yee Harr! The First Stone is gone! I weighed myself today and I’m down 2lbs to 16st 7oz. It’s taken me 3 months almost to the day to lose the first stone. Onwards and upwards!

Thursday 31 August 2008 Update

Well how did I do? Not as well as I had hoped. Although I was in Greece and did eat quite a bit of salad, I found because of the heat I was drinking about 2 litres of Coke every day, along with about 2 litres of fresh fruit juice, and about 2 litres of water. Of course the Coke is very high in sugar, so all in my weight stayed the same over the period and I finished up at 16st 6 oz.

However:

  1. During the trial of the Hoodia supplement, I didn’t exercise.
  2. I didn’t go out of my way to be pedantic about what I was eating. I just ate less, or cut back, or just said no to the temptation of something sweet, (but not all the time so the fun went out of the test).
  3. I did nothing really different. I still had the occasional fast food, but split it in two, perhaps eating it over two dinner times, or giving half away.
  4. I still had the odd piece of confectionery, but kept away from crisps (no more than 5 packets were eaten over the test).
  5. I didn’t allow myself to come under any mental pressure not to eat – the tablets helped greatly in this respect by taking away the desire, but I did find if I missed taking the tablets at the right time (especially as the weeks went on), that I did experience a weak desire to eat.
  6. Overall I feel that I didn’t suffer the ‘diet mental stress’ to stick religiously to low fat and healthy food, although to be honest I did eat more salads. As I like spicy food, I did enjoy salad dressed with lemon and pepper dressing as it gave the food a kick and in some ways made up for not eating many spicy chinese or indian meals.

So the overall result of the target period was 50% success. I lost 1 stone. However I will be continuing with the eating lifestyle and continuing hopefully to report a slow continual weight loss over the coming months.

Monday 29 September 2008 Update

The other half stone has gone – I’m now 16 stone. That’s down 1.5 stones since May 2008 (4 months).
Overall I feel this is a reasonable achievement for someone who has never made a conscious effort to actually lose the weight or stick to a rigid diet and exercise. Perhaps not as dramatic a loss as some people achieve, but I feel I should be able to continue this progress with much conscious thought.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that this is the easy way to lose weight – no real effort to it – as long as you are prepared to accept that it will take several months. I happy with the overall experiment so far, and would recommend this method to anyone. Just be sure you buy your Hoodia from a genuine source or this won’t work. If I can do this, then so can you (unless you have some sort of medical condition to prevent you). Keep watching this space…
