Angular Cheilitis

Posted by Mark under Health Wellness Fitness

Angular cheilitis is extremely painful for the sufferer as the corners of the mouth become more chapped and cracked. The cracked corners of mouth make it difficult to move your mouth without reopening the cracks. Simple speech, yawning, or sneezing becomes painful. It is actually classed as a disease, though it is not known exactly why the sores start but if not quickly treated quickly the sores may become infected by Candida albicans, (or thrush) or other bacteria which make it even more difficult for the condition to heal. The condition is also known as angular stomatitis or perleche.

The topical cream hydrocortisone is the usual prescribed treatment by practitioners. It would appear that this treatment may not be the most successful. People report having to suffer the condition for years.

With children and teenagers chelitis can be a particularly depressing condition because there is nothing more that children like to do than call each other names. Usually the more cruel the better they seem to like it. I mean, who wants to be called syphilis face or leprosy lips at school?

Here’s what a parent of a young man called Brad had to say about their son’s condition. “Nothing the doctors prescribed seemed to work. It was a very angry skin infection that persisted despite the many different topical creams we were prescribed. I watched my son change in personality from happy and outgoing to withdrawn and quiet.”

Fortunately they discovered a cure. Cheilitis can be cured permanently from simple ingredients that can be found in your home. All you need to know is how. You can read that full report here at the Angular Chelitis Foundation.

“Within one hour the legions that were particularly swollen that day on the corners of Brads lips began to get smaller and dry out. Within 2 hours Brad reported no pain and could not feel the split skin with his tongue on the inside of his lips that he usually persistently felt. Instead he felt smooth healed skin. Within just 3 hours of treating the disease this way, the symptoms were completely gone. There was still some cracked skin, but it was very small now almost imperceptable. There was no redness or rawness at his lips. By the next morning his lips were completely normal.”

Angular cheilitis is a condition which affects many Americans and Europeans in cold weather. It is more painful than having simply chapped lips and often occurs with it. Angular cheilitis is a condition where the corners of the mouth become cracked and split, irritated and swollen, often becoming infected with fungus and bacteria, and are equally as painful as ‘paper cuts’ because every time you move your mouth to speak or even yawn, these cracks cause a lot of pain.

I sympathise with anyone who suffers from angular cheilitis because it can strike quickly and once these sores start to bleed and become painful all the sufferer can think of is getting immediate help for the condition.

Anything involving the movement of your facial muscles causes more pain. People tend to smile when spoken to, and even the simple unconscious reaction of smiling immediately causes pain. Talking is difficult as is eating.

Angular cheilitis is often common among the older generation who wear dentures. Often ill fitting dentures cause the mouth to over close resulting in small folds of skin forming in the corners of the mouth. These folds tend stay moist with saliva providing the ideal conditions for angular cheilitis to form.

Many elderly people tend to have angular cheilitis infections from the onset of cold weather, and unfortunately suffer the condition for long periods than necessary simply because they or their family is unaware of how to effectively deal with it. A lot of the elderly have never learnt how to use a computer, or through a medical condition are unable to, so they never have access to the Internet to look for help in treating their condition.

There is an answer.

Some further information about angular cheilitis.

1. Angular cheilitis is a Candida infection (yeast).
2. One method of treating angular colitis is with a topical antifungal gel, or steroids such as Mycolog II or Mycostatin. The antifungal element destroys the yeast, while the steroid helps ease redness itching swelling and the pain. The topical cream naturally has to be applied close to the side of the mouth, so there may be a problem ingesting it, and you need to be careful and watch for are side effects of the steroid.
3. Chapped lips can trigger angular cheilitis, especially in children who have a habit of licking their lips chapping them. The additional moisture becoming trapped in the corners of the mouth and triggers the cheilitis.
4. Ill fitting dentures may cause angular cheilitis. Dentures should be replaced or adjusted as soon as possible by a dentist and should be stored overnight in an antiseptic solution to prevent bacterial infection.
5. Angular cheilitis is also known as cheilosos, or perleche.
6. Medical practitioners often prescribe 1% hydrocortisone topical cream. Unfortunately in most cases this has been proven to be ineffective, or at best takes a long time to clear the condition.
7. The condition is more common in the elderly especially when you begin to lose teeth and an overclosure of the mouth occurs. Naturally, cold weather also leads to more are instances of chelitis as the lips dry out and you tend to lick them more causing moisture to become trapped in the mouth corners. It is common to have cracked lips and cheilitis both at the same time.

The Angular Cheilitis Foundation is a hoax. No "foundation" would ever operate on a for-profit basis. People, if you are suffering from angular cheilitis or perleche, please go see your doctor or dermatologist.

My furnace broke three weeks ago. I had to have a new one installed for around $2,500. Then the replacement furnace broke TWICE this week. Since it is winter here in WV, I had no choice but to have a repairman come out. So I have spent 500 more dollars on the stupid furnace. When I got up this morning, everything in my fridge was frozen solid and there is water all over the floor. I apparently am down a refrigerator as well. Needless to say, I am strapped, and cannot afford your fee (...$70....yikes!) plus whatever the treatment itself will cost.

My son has this condition. He can't even eat. Can't you help me at all?
  • Unfortunately I cannot. I am an advertiser directing a person looking to solve a problem, to a likely solution, and do not own the product. I have ever only had mild angular cheilitis which fortunately cleared itself before it became unbearably painful and was treated only with a moisturing lip balm.

This will not work in cases such as you describe. I have not read this information and have no idea of the ingredients involved, other than they are available at home and have worked quickly and effectively for a number of people.

I suggest you contact the product owners directly, (in this case the Angular Chelitis Foundation whose link is in the body of the article), or attempt to find the information by searching on Google for forums, or for people, who have cured their condition with this information.

I think it's crap that you want people to PAY for the solution of Angular Chelitis. If you REALLY wanted to HELP people who are suffering from it,you would GIVE the cure information for FREE!!!!! I will NEVER pay you a penny, but instead find my own solution to this problem. Shame on you for being so money hungry!
  • Hi Lisa.

Much as I might like to, it's not my product to do that with. Besides, I'm paying for advertising for this product as I'm trying to make some money online. I'm sure you appreciate that paying for advertising and then giving away the 'product' (information) would be daft. Doubly daft, as the product owner would then sue me.

It's possible you might be able to find the information on line somewhere without having to pay something, but how much is your time worth to do that?

I'm not money hungry, but I sure don't want to go hungry ;-)
