Celiacs disease means that the sufferer has to take care eating even a sandwich. What about a taco with sour cream? You probably weren’t aware of it at the time, but those foods you were eating probably contained gluten. To you that means nothing, but to a person suffering from celiacs disease it means a lot. Gluten attacks the small intestine, which causes the disease. This means those who have it have to go on a gluten free diet, which is a great sacrifice. This article will discuss how to identify gluten or wheat intolerance and how to still enjoy your life, gluten free.

Gluten is something that most people never have to consider. It is found in many foods and most do not realize they are consuming it. It is a protein that’s found in different grains, such as barley and wheat. In general, people consume wheat products every day. The first thing a person must do who has wheat intolerance, is thoroughly research foods that contain gluten. The best thing for celiacs to do is to look for keywords, which will hint to the use of gluten. Some of these words are vegetable protein, malt and vegetable gum.

Once you figure out those keywords, be certain to stay away from gluten that may be hidden in ingredient labels. At first it may seem like there isn’t anything that you can eat. You may not be able to eat pasta or regular cookies but there are plenty of alternatives. So many people are living on a gluten free diet that there are now gluten free foods available specifically for those who are suffering. You can indulge in gluten free cookies and gluten free pizza. The really good news is that most grocery stores now carry these products. You can also still consume fresh cut meat, fresh fruit and milk.

It is important to know what to expect once you start your gluten free diet for celiacs disease. If you are a big eater, especially of bread products, then your body is going to go through a huge transition. You should always speak with your doctor before starting yourself on gluten free foods. Being gluten intolerant is not easy and is hard for most people to understand. Remember that there are celiacs disease and other gluten intolerant disorder support groups out there, so don’t be afraid to join one and make life a little easier.

Greek Café Frappé prepared with soy milk and t...

Image via Wikipedia

I don’t begin to understand what the money controllers in this country have done to us and how they brought about this market crash. All I know is that it’s going to make everything around us cost more. That includes food.

It was mostly a novelty for me when I first started making my own soymilk. I had been buying my soymilk in the grocery and didn’t even know for along time that I could make it myself. I mean, who makes milk? I don’t live on a dairy farm, so my only access to cow’s milk was the grocery store. So when I made the switch to soy, it didn’t even occur to me that this could turn into a do-it-yourself project.

Luxury Becomes a Need?

Making my own soymilk was absolute luxury. I was a step up from folks that were still buying this drink in stores because I had the ability to control what I put in my soymilk and how I wanted it to taste. Then I learned how to make tofu and soy yogurt. My luxury continued.

My opinion about this food source has quickly changed. My Soymilk Maker has become my most valued piece of kitchen equipment. It’s now a necessity!

The finacial burden of meat-based diets could soon grow beyond belief. What is the cost of a pound of meat? What will it become? How many meals can a pound of meat make? What’s the cost of a pound of soybeans? Right now, it averages 2 dollars. What will it become? It’ll be much less than meat.

Will Soy Become Survival Food?

You can do a lot of things with a pound of soybeans. You can make 5 pots of soymilk. You could use one of those pots to make a block of tofu. One pot of soymilk can make seven servings of yogurt. Also from those 5 pots, you’ll get almost 4 cups of okara, which can easily become 20 soy burgers.

The upside to all of this; soy is healthy. It’s a perfect protein food. It’s high in fiber and loaded with minerals. This may not be the best time to invest in the stock market, but it’s a great time to invest in health and food. An additional note: dry soybeans have a long shelf life when stored in tightly sealed containers.

         More hugs please!

More hugs please!

Brits are missing out on 2,808 hugs each every year and it could be damaging our health a new report reveals today. That’s 54 per week per person! In order to stay healthy we all know we should be eating five portions of fruit and veg a day, but we need eight portions of hugging a day too according to experts!

65% of people in the UK are losing their soft touch by admitting to steering clear of hugging, representing 368 million hugs a day that aren’t being given or received. 10% of Brits never hug loved ones, 55% only give around two a week and only 17% are really big softies admitting they love hugging! This means that the average Brit is only getting 3% of the hugs that experts say is healthy and good for you, reveals the findings in a study commissioned by Andrex.

The benefits of a good hug are medically proven by the release of a ‘feel good’ hormone ‘Oxytocin’ when giving and receiving a cuddle. Experts say that we should be getting around eight hugs a day to maintain a feeling of happiness and well-being.

Maylis Galeano, Andrex Consumer Care Manager says: ‘We at Andrex think it’s time for Britain to show their softer side much more. There’s nothing wrong with showing affection and hugging your loved ones, especially if there are health benefits too!’

Osho, an Indian mystic and author summarises the theory perfectly saying: “Analysis is the way of the mind, hugging is the way of the heart. The mind is the cause of all diseases, and the heart is the source of all healing.” *
