Ziac – A Healthy Heart

Ziac is a regulator of high blood pressure and contains the ingredients of bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide. Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker. The second ingredient Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. The combination is very effective in helping the body to eliminate fluids through urine and sweating helping prevent swelling.

Dosage and Treatment

* Ziac should only be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The medication is advised to be taken with a glass of water in the morning, as its action in eliminating fluids through urine, causes trips to the bathroom. Not something you want to be doing frequently at night.
* If you miss a dose take the next one as soon as you can unless it is close to the next due dose, in which case continue as normal. Do not take two doses together.

Precautionary Measures

* Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when taking this medication, as Ziac makes users feel drowsy, or less attentive than normal.
* Ziac also lowers blood sugar levels, so if you are a diabetic who should only take this medication after consulting with your doctor.
* Additionally should you require any surgery or dental treatment involving anaesthetic you should inform the health provider as Ziac can interact with drugs used during surgery.
* Strictly avoid alcohol when taking this medication.
* Like ways other medications when taken alongside the Ziac may increase or decrease side-effects, so care must be taken and your doctor must be kept informed of any other medication you are taking.
* If you are pregnant or intending pregnancy or are nursing again you should consult a doctor as it is not known if the medication passes through the mother’s breast milk to the child.
* Your eyes may become more sensitive when using this medication.
* Refrain from dieting.

When Ziac is not to be used:

* In cases of a slow heartbeat
* In cases of urination difficulties
* Bronchial asthma
* If you suffer from allergies to one of the components in Ziac or other antibiotics

What happens if you accidentally overdose?

Common side effects while taking this medication are, (which are more noticeable in the case of an overdose):

* Dizziness
* Drowsiness
* Vomiting
* Nausea
* Low blood sugar
* Breathe difficulty
* Increased urination

Other rare but serious side effects include:

* Headaches
* Weak pulse
* Chest pain
* Constipation
* Diarrhoea
* Weight gain
* Confusion
* Fatigue
